The four-star Hotel Astoria, built on the site of the medieval town walls, is one of the most charming old style hotels of the Hungarian capital. As the slogan of the hotel goes, Astoria offers "Tradition and style..." with its last turn-of-the-century atmosphere.

The Astoria was opened in 1914, its name was given by the owners and Mihály Gellér, the first General Manager of the hotel, who formerly worked for the world-famous Waldorf Astoria in New York, and was an acknowledged expert in hospitality at that time.

During the 90-year past of Astoria the hotel was reconstructed and modernised several times but its unique grace was carefully restored. The Empire style interior decoration, the marble cover and fancy carpets, the crystal chandeliers, glittering mirrors and stained glass windows, the marvellous works of art invite the guests for a romantic journey back in time. Film producers and directors often take the advantage of the excellent facilities of the hotel, which provides perfect scenery for film shooting.

Due to its excellent services and ideal location in the heart of the historical city centre, within walking distance of the administrative, business and cultural districts and the famous shopping areas of Váci Street, the hotel is very popular among foreigners and citizens as well. After an exhausting day spent with sightseeing or shopping it is good to sit back and relax, have a delicious dinner or a fine coffee in the Empire Restaurant or Astoria Café Mirror evoking the ambiance of "la belle époque".

Guest Rooms

All the 126 spacious rooms and the 5 elegant suites are with bath or shower, direct dial telephone, TV with satellite programmes, Internet access, minibar, built-in room safe. Room service, laundry and valet service are also at the disposal of our guests.

The guestrooms are in three different styles some with balcony:
• Emerald Rooms furnished in contemporary style with comfortable mahogany furniture.

• Sapphire Rooms overlooking the shopping street furnished in contemporary style in elegant pastel shades.

• Topaz Rooms situated on the Magyar Sreet wing of the hotel, were reconstructed in 1997. In these pleasant, air-conditioned, soundproof standerd rooms furnished with beech furnitures the following services are at the guests' disposal: built-in room safe, TV with satellite programmes, minibar, direct dial telephone and wireless Internet.

• Empire Suites furnished in Empire style recalling the saloons of Budapest in the beginning of the last century

• Superior Ruby rooms:
During the reconstruction works of the hotel a brand new room type was created. The new superior rooms' colours, the soft ochre yellow, the terracotta, the red Burgundy and the pattern of the textile and the elegant white furniture remind us of the atmosphere in Provance. In the new air-conditioned and soundproof rooms built-in room safe, TV with satellite programmes, minibar, direct dial telephone and wireless Internet are at the disposal of the guests.

Cancellation Policy:

3 days prior arrival. In case of later cancellation or no show we charge the rate of one night stay.
Reservation has to be guaranteed by credit card.

How to get to the Hotel:

IF YOU ARRIVE BY PLANE OR TRAIN:
You can order a taxi with the help of our Hotel Transfer form. This large airconditioned private taxi takes you straight to the hotel at a fix price. You can also use the Minibus Service at the airport or at the train station. It is a little cheaper but you have to wait for a while to get the right bus and it might go to other hotels before yours.

FROM THE TRAIN STATIONS:
From Nyugati pályaudvar (Western Railway station) take underground M3 (blue line) to Deak squere, then change to M2 (red line) to Astoria, The entrance of the hotel is just a minute from there.

From Keleti pályaudvar (Eastern Railway station) take underground M2 (red line) to Astoria, and you are right at the hotel.

From Déli pályaudvar (Southern Railway station) take underground M2 (red line) to Astoria, and you will see the hotel as soon as you exit the underground.

Conference Rooms and Halls:

We offer our elegant air-conditioned function and seminar rooms all with daylight, and equipped with all technical facilities for conferences, seminars, meetings, trade shows, press conferences. The Restaurant Empire and the Astoria Café Mirror with its traditional atmosphere give a perfect venue for stylish receptions, gala dinners and luncheons, partner parties, fashion shows, and press conferences.

Green Hall
The bright air-conditioned room, located on the first floor of the hotel, facing the quiet Magyar street is decorated with several shades of green. It is especially suitable for conferences, meetings, seminars, trade shows, press conferences, and training.

Károlyi Room
A historical place furnished in Empire style and pastel decoration gives privacy for smaller meetings, seminars, training, press conferences, gala dinners, and receptions up to 30 persons.

Podium Saloon
We offer our function room with a round stage and an up-to-date sound-system for seminars and smaller conferences. The speciality of the Podium Saloon, the built-in stage makes it a perfect place for fashion shows, weddings, folklore evenings and candlelit dinners with cabaret entertainment.
